Classroom Assessment
Assessment, in its many forms, is at the heart of good teaching. But how teachers use particular types of assessment and how they affect student learning are only recently being studied in detail. In fact, no true measures of teachers' classroom assessment currently exist. CAESL is working to create such measures and will use them to define more precisely what is quality assessment practice in the classroom. We will use this to inform other parts of our CAESL work, such as the training of teachers.
Our research work will demonstrate how classroom assessment that promotes ongoing learning can be linked to larger-scale assessments that measure student achievement at a given time. The research in classroom assessment that focuses directly on teaching and learning is a vital part of our work.
